Makinde Donates N500m For Construction of New Air Force Base In Ibadan Governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, promised to donate the sum of N500m for the construction of a base for the Nigerian Air Force, which would be located at Ajia, Ibadan. The governor made the pledge while receiving the Chief of Air Staff of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao, DFS, during a courtesy visit to his office at Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan. He added that his government will continue to support the officers and men of the NAF. Makinde, shortly after, proceeded to the venue where the Air Force Base will be located to perform the official groundbreaking ceremony in the company of other top government functionaries. Tribunal stops MultiChoice from increasing tariffs on products, services A Competition and Consumer Protection (CCP) Tribunal sitting in Abuja has restrained MultiChoice Nigeria Limited from increasing its tariffs and cost of products and services scheduled to begin on April 1. The three-member tribunal, presided over by Thomas Okosun, gave the order following an ex-parte motion moved by Festus Onifade, a legal practitioner, on behalf of himself and the Coalition of Nigeria Consumers. Other members of the tribunal include Sola Salako Ajulo and Ibrahim El-Yakubu. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the suit marked: CCPT/OP/1/2022, MultiChoice Nigeria Limited and Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) are 1st and 2nd respondents, respectively. Breaking: Eguavoen steps down as Super Eagles coach

Following the failure of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the erstwhile Technical Adviser, Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down from that position with immediate effect. The NFF has in the meantime withdrawn the two-and-half years contract offered the coaches and terminated the appointment of the entire technical crew of the team with immediate effect. A new crew will be announced after a proper review to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately. “We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi. Eguavoen has faced increased calls to resign after his failure to overcome Ghana over two legs of the World Cup play-off. Alawode welcomed their bundle of joy in a private hospital in Ona Ara Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo-State around 11:40pm on Wednesday.   Mother and child are said to be doing fine. Oyo PDP Chieftain, Olopoeyan Dumps PDP A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan has withdrawn his membership from the party. Olopoeyan made his withdrawal known in a press statement available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Nigeria vs Ghana: Very disgraceful – Akin Alabi slams Sunday Dare after Super Eagles defeat Nigerian politician, Oloye Akin Alabi, has hit out at Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, following the Super Eagles’ 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff defeat to the Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday. Akin Alabi described the country’s sports ministry under the leadership of Dare as ‘disgraceful’ after Ghana beat Nigeria to qualify for this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
