Bandits abduct village head, wife in Ibadan SEARCH METRO Bandits abduct village head, wife in Ibadan Some suspected kidnappers have abducted the Baale of Araromi Village in Ibadan, Oyo State, Chief Tafa Apanpa and his wife. Apanpa and wife were kidnapped by gunmen, who stormed the Village located in the Bakatari area of Ibadan, on Tuesday night. Confirming the incident in Ibadan on Wednesday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso, said efforts were being made to secure the release of the victims. Osifeso said efforts were in top gear to rescue both the victims and apprehend the abductors. Addressing Newsmen in Ibadan, a resident of the community, who pleaded anonymity, said, the duo was kidnapped while it was raining on Tuesday night. The town is in Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan, a border town between Oyo and Ogun, located on the Ibadan-Abeokuta road. @INSTANTnews

It disclosed that the bandits were intercepted during a stop-and-search operation. Spokesman of the Army, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, stated this in a statement in Abuja, NAN reports.   CAS reduces Siasia’s FIFA life ban to five years, cancels $50,000 fine Former Super Eagles coach Samsom Siasia’s life ban from football has been reduced to five years by the Court of Arbitration for Sports. In August 2019, world football body FIFA banned Siasia for life and fined him $50,000 and for agreeing to ‘the manipulation of matches’ for betting purposes. According to FIFA, the Olympic silver medallist’s former Super Eagles coach’s ban emanated from an extensive investigation into matches that Wilson Perumal attempted to fix.   ASUU threatens fresh strike over unpaid salaries The Academic Staff Union of Universities has threatened to embark on an industrial action if the 13 months’ salaries of over 1,000 of its members across the country were not paid. Dr. Lazarus Maigoro, Chairman, University of Jos chapter of the union, who stated this in a statement on Saturday, in Jos, added that the Federal Government had also withheld the check-off dues of the affected members. He accused Ahmed Idris, the Accountant General of Federation (AGF), of systematically denying the lecturers their remuneration, even after government and the union had reached an agreement on non-victimisation of its members following their last strike.
