As the "Pacesetter State," workers anticipated a consequential adjustment that would be commensurate with the new minimum wage. However, the tabled adjustment has been deemed disappointing, with many workers lamenting the lack of arrears and the overall inadequacy of the package.

Furthermore, comparisons have been drawn with the minimum wage consequential adjustment in Osun State, which has been deemed more favourable. Workers in Oyo State have expressed feelings of dismay and disillusionment, with many questioning the government's commitment to their welfare.
The government has been accused of "playing a fast one on the workers," while labour leaders have also faced criticism for their perceived failure to negotiate a better deal. The use of dubious terms, such as "nominally from July 2024 but financially from January 2025," has been particularly contentious.
In response to the backlash, some commentators have noted that the adjustment may have some benefits, such as favouring those who retired between July 2024 and December 31, 2025, by capturing their pension and gratuity using the new wage.

However, for many workers in Oyo State, the new minimum wage consequential adjustment remains a disappointment, and they continue to demand a better deal.
