Oyo APC Chieftain Saheed Adewale Oriade Regains Freedom After 39 Days in Captivity
The All Progressives Congress (APC) community and the family of Hon. Saheed Adewale Oriade are celebrating his safe return following his release from captivity in the early hours of Saturday, January 10, 2026. Hon. Oriade, a prominent chieftain of the APC in Oyo State, was abducted thirty-nine days ago on December 3, 2025. His release marks the end of a weeks-long ordeal that has drawn significant concern from political associates and the general public.
Hon. Oriade was forcibly taken by unidentified gunmen from his office located within the PJ Square Shopping Complex, adjacent to the NNPC station at Elewure, Iyana Ajanla, along the Akala Expressway in the New Garage area of Ibadan.
Reports confirmed by family sources indicate that Hon. Oriade was reunited with his loved ones this morning. While the details surrounding his release remain brief, he is currently undergoing medical evaluation to ensure his well-being after the prolonged period in custody.
As of the time of this report, it has not been officially confirmed whether a ransom was paid to secure his freedom, nor has the Oyo State Police Command issued a formal statement regarding the circumstances of the release or the status of the perpetrators.
