2027: Tinubu's Economic Boldness Unmatched By Opposition, Says Rep Akin Alabi
In a massive show of political strength, thousands of supporters gathered in Ibadan,the capital of Oyo State on Saturday to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, the initiative which was spearheaded by the Chairman of the House Committee on Works, Honourable Akin Alabi.
The event, held at the D-4 Event Centre in the Alakia-Isebo area, marked the official launch of the grassroots movement "Friends of Akin Alabi for Tinubu 2027." Addressing the energetic crowd, Honourable Akin Alabi, who represents the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, asserted that the President’s courageous economic reforms are already setting Nigeria on a path to rapid recovery.
Hon. Alabi pointed out a significant irony in the criticisms coming from opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. He reminded the audience that the major candidates in the 2023 election had all campaigned on the same core promises, removing fuel subsidies and floating the naira.
“The President is doing exactly what they said they would do, and now they are confused. When it comes to issue-based campaigns, they will have nothing to say because their own promises are on camera. They cannot deny it.” Akin Alabi explained.
He dismissed the current opposition rhetoric as beer parlour politics, arguing that while critics focus on the temporary high cost of commodities like gaari, they lack a fundamental understanding of the structural shifts required to fix the national economy. Regarding the next presidential cycle, Hon. Alabi expressed total confidence that no challenger could match the President's performance or resolve.
He claimed that neither Atiku nor Obi could withstand the political and administrative weight of Tinubu. He also maintained that the current administration’s bold steps were the only viable options for Nigeria’s long-term survival.
The movement served a dual purpose, as constituents from Egbeda/Ona-Ara also turned out in large numbers to back Akin Alabi’s bid for a third term in the National Assembly.
Community, political and religious leaders at the event noted that Honourable Akin Alabi's performance has spoken volumes compared to his predecessors, citing his legislative track record and constituency projects as the primary drivers for their continued support.
