Hon. Folashade Elizabeth Alao, popularly known as Iya-Ido, the leading aspirant for Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has calls for unity, steadfastness, and focus among party faithful as the state prepares for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released through her media unit today in Ibadan, Hon. Alao addressed recent political developments, urging supporters to remain calm and undeterred of the external alliances. She emphasized that the PDP remains a distinct and formidable entity committed to the progress of Oyo State. Hon. Elizabeth expressed absolute confidence in the leadership of Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, describing his guidance as vital for the party’s success.
Clarifying the party's current standing, she stated categorically that the authentic PDP has not entered into a merger or mega alliance with any other political group. She called on party members to redirect their energy toward intensive grassroots mobilization to ensure a landslide victory in 2027.
"I stand today to assure our supporters and members across the state that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has not merged with any other political party, Our party is not organizing any mega rally in alliance with others. We remain a sovereign and strong organization, solely committed to the welfare and prosperity of the citizens of Oyo State. Hon. Alao stated.
"PDP has aspirants in all 33 local governments in Oyo State, and our party's primary Kick-start with House of Representatives primary on the 17th May, 2026, and end with presiedential primary on the 27th May, 2026 to elect candidates to flag our party in 2027 general election. She concluded.
The statement comes amidst reports of a factional mega alliance rally involving some political party. Hon. Alao statement has distance the authentic PDP structure from such arrangements, maintaining that the party’s focus remains internal cohesion and direct engagement with the electorate.
She urges all party members to stay focused on the core values of the PDP, reminding them that a united front is the only path to maintaining the party's dominance in the Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency and the state at large.
