The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Honourable Folashade Elizabeth Alao popularly known as Iya-Ido, has strongly debunked widespread rumors alleging that the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, interfered in or influenced the outcome of the party’s primary election held on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Describing the report as completely baseless and fabricated, Hon. Alao stated that the news is entirely untrue and was maliciously by disgruntled elements to create an artificial crisis within the Oyo State PDP chapter. The clearance comes in response to a speculative press statement issued by a group calling itself the Ibadan Solidarity Group,  led by one Comrade Sulaimon Abimbola, the group had alleged without evidence that former Governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose sought to influence the internal delegate process in Oyo State, going as far as calling on the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to review the democratic outcome of the primary.

Reacting swiftly to the allegations, The Rep. candidate, Hon. Folashade Alao urged party members, stakeholders, and the general public to completely disregard the group’s claims, framing them as a classic case of post-election grievance aimed at undermining a transparent process.

"The primary election in our constituency and across Oyo State was conducted in a peaceful, transparent, and democratic manner, strictly guided by the constitution of our great party. Former Governor Ayo Fayose has absolutely no hand, interest, or any influence of whatsoever in the internal affairs of the Oyo State PDP primary. These claims are entirely untrue and emanated solely from individuals desperate to cause an unnecessary crisis and divide the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. Alao expressed.

Hon. Folashade Elizabeth Alao further emphasized that Oyo State PDP remains deeply united under the leadership of the state structures and His Excellency Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, that no external actors dictated the choices of the local delegates and the party members.


The candidate called on all the PDP local, state and national excos within the party to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, ignore divisive regional rhetoric, and join hands to ensure a resounding victory for the PDP in the upcoming general elections.
