Democracy Day: Oyo Deputy Speaker, Fadeyi Calls For Genuine Cooperation, Prayers To Combat Nigeria’s Insecurity
As Nigeria marks this year’s Democracy Day, the Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Mohammed Abiodun Fadeyi has called on citizens across the nation to unite in prayer and foster genuine cooperation to overcome the country's lingering insecurity challenges.
In a statement commemorating the democratic milestone, Rt. Hon. Fadeyi, who represents the Ona-Ara State Constituency, emphasized that safeguarding the nation’s democracy requires a collective shield of patriotism, collaboration, and spiritual intervention.
"Democracy is not just about elections; it is about the peace, safety, and well-being of the people. As we celebrate our democratic journey, we must confront the reality of our security challenges with genuine unity. I urge all Nigerians, regardless of faith or political affiliation, to continue praying fervently for our nation and to support our security agencies in their tireless efforts." Fadeyi expressed.
The deputy speaker stressed that government efforts alone can not eradicate insecurity without the active cooperation of the citizenry. He urged community leaders, religious bodies, and everyday Nigerians to prioritize intelligence-sharing and peaceful cohabitation, noting that a secure Nigeria is foundational to sustainable economic growth.
Reflecting on the progress of Oyo State under the current administration, Hon. Fadeyi reassured his constituents in Ona-Ara and the people of Oyo State that the legislative house remains deeply committed to enacting laws that prioritize public safety, welfare, and grassroots development. He wishes Nigerians a peaceful Democracy Day celebration, urging everyone to keep hope alive and remain steadfast in building a safer, more prosperous nation.
