Hon. Abiodun Muhammed Fadeyi is the Deputy Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly that representing Ona-Ara State Constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly.
He previously worked as a television producer at NTA Abuja after which he became the special adviser on legislative matters to the majority leader, House of Representatives, 2011 to 2015.
He was appointed in 2015 as the special adviser on public affairs to the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives until he contested in 2019 elections to represent Ona-Ara state constituency.
Hon. Fadeyi last year got second term ticket as the flagbearer of People’s Democratic Party {PDP} to represent Ona-Ara state constituency between 2023-2027.
In his first term, majority of Ona-Ara residents has complained about the poor performance of Hon. Fadeyi. Sometimes they accused the deputy speaker of not use his current position to influence certain developments to his constituency. Some expressed that, he failed in his primary responsibility as a legislator.
In another view, many people applauded the Deputy Speaker Fadeyi for many excellent performances on employments, empowerment, bills sponsored and motions raised which has positive impacts in the life of people living in Ona-Ara. Some even expressed their delight to Fadeyi on the construction of Olorunsogo to Dagbolu road which it's complection remains days.
Majorly, the argument of others demands explanation from Hon. Fadeyi why he didn't live among people he claimed he is representing.
Can all these and other political views and calculations make Hon. Mohammed Abiodun Fadeyi survive the political sergacity and tsunami of former council boss and grassroot mobiliser, Hon. Ismaila Oyetunde Akanni popular called Akanni Èrè.
Who is Akanni Èrè?
Hon Ismaila Oyetunde Akanni was once a classroom teacher at Queen of Apostle Oluyoro and Oke'badan high school after graduated from St Andrew's college of Education, Oyo in 1990.
Akanni was once a Councillor in old ward 10 during 0-party in 1996 now ward 04 in Ona-Ara local government. Hon Akanni served as Vice-chairman Ona-Ara L.G under DPN (Democratic Party of Nigeria), while Barr. Sumbo Owolabi was chairman then in 1997, also served as a legislative aide to Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin when he was Senate leader between 2007-2010. Akanni served as an acting chairman for 42 days and caretaker chairman of Ona-Ara local government for 3years.
During Akanni 's 42days as acting chairman; he tiled Target police station road linked to estate curved and pass through the Magistrates Court in jegede area of Ona-Ara local government. He rehabilitated Awotunde Health Centre, grading village roads in Ona-Ara.
As Caretaker Chairman between 2012-2015, Akanni's achievements were listed below; Tiled Ogbere tioya to Oritamerin road, Oritamerin to Foworogun road, Babanla to Igisogba Road, Amuloke to Kuye road, Dalemo to Ayekale road.
Last year, Akanni got the All Progressives Congress {APC} ticket to represent Ona-Ara state constituency in oyo State House of Assembly between 2023-2027.
History explained that, when Hon. Ismaila Oyetunde Akanni was in office as the Caretaker Chairman at Oke-Akanran, he touched every communities within Ona-Ara and this gives him more popularity which added a nickname to his personality "ÈRÈ" means, profits. The main argument of this article is can D.S Fadeyi win convincingly in the common March 11th election with the popularity and political reputation of AKanni Ere in Ona-Ara?.
Another factor, is the emergence of Popular tutorial centre owner, who has contributed immensely to the society through his educational establishment program. Hon. Oladipupo popularly known as Intellectual. Oladipupo was a front supporter of Hon. Fadeyi during 2019 election whose contributions towards Fadeyi's victory in 2019 can not be underrated.
Hon. Oladipupo is one of the people who felt disappointed in Deputy Speaker Fadeyi's performance. Oladipupo who secured his own ticket from Social Democratic Party {SDP} vow that he would use all his personality to bring down the second term bid of the current lawmaker representing Ona-Ara State Constituency, Hon. Fadeyi.
With the emergence of Hon. Oladipupo of SDP and popularity of a grassroot politician, who has performed excellently during his rein as council chairman, Hon. Akanni Èrè, can Deputy Speaker Mohammed Abiodun Fadeyi survive and back to the State assembly in 2023?.
