Senator Dr. Yunus Akintunde, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, has facilitated the recruitment and training of 25 youths from his district into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The announcement was made by Kunle Olatunji, media aide to the Oyo Central Senator, during the Passing-Out Parade held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Oyo State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.
The Senator, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, has been commended for his commitment to youth empowerment and community development.
One notable beneficiary, Opeyemi Sunday Gabriel, transitioned from being a commercial motorcycle (Okada) rider to a police officer. A community member, Olawuyi Julius Oluwaseye popularly known as Seyegolden, shared: “When we were in a hopeless situation, you renewed our hope. We will forever be grateful for this unforgettable legacy.”
Speaking on his efforts, Senator Akintunde said: “The hordes of people coming to thank me for facilitating their job placements should just see me as doing the job they gave me. This is part of my responsibility to use my position to improve the lives of my people and make Nigeria better.”
This attempt is one of many by the senator aimed at addressing unemployment and fostering development in Oyo Central, leaving a lasting legacy of hope and progress.
