In the past two years, Senator Yunus Akintunde has defied expectations, spearheading transformative infrastructural development in Oyo Central Senatorial District. His impressive scorecard has garnered widespread acclaim, with many constituents marveling at the remarkable achievements within such a short timeframe.
Senator Akintunde's tenure has been marked by outstanding performances, earning him recognition as the Best Senator of the Year 2025 by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council, Education. His dedication to the district's progress is evident in the numerous projects and initiatives that have improved the lives of constituents.

• Distribution of 7200 NPK fertilizers to improve local farmers’ yield and productivities
• Distribution of 2000 knapsack sprayers to Oyo Central Senatorial District farmers
• Provision and distribution of herbicides and pesticides to the farmers across Oyo Central
Senatorial District
• Distribution of 500 bags of yam seeds to the farmers across Oyo Central Senatorial District
• Distribution of 300 bags of hybrid maize seeds to Oyo Central Senatorial District farmers
• Distribution of 2000 packets of hybrid tomato seeds to Oyo Central Senatorial District

• Construction and Installation of 120 NOs solar powered borehole across selected
communities in Oyo Central Senatorial District (On-going)
• Construction of SDG’s sponsored Irepodun Market, Irepo, Oyo, Oyo West LGA (Ongoing)
• Erosion control and channelization works in Ojongbodu, Oyo West LGA, Oyo State
• Construction of drainage systems at Aroro-Makinde, Akinyele LGA, Oyo State
• Rehabilitation of Alabata junctions to Elekuru-Olaleye-Onibonla village Road in Akinyele

EMPOWERMENT
PROGRMS
• Training on tailoring skills and empowerment of 465 beneficiaries with sewing machine
and honorarium.
• Digital E-Lancing (ICT) training and empowerment of 439 participants with tablet phone
and honorarium
• Training and Strategic empowerment of 316 youths with phone repair toolbox and
honorarium
• Empowerment of women with 250 grinding machines across Oyo Central Senatorial
District
• Empowerment of 100 Mechanic technicians across Oyo Central Senatorial District with
complete toolbox
• Empowerment of 100 welder across Oyo Central Senatorial District with welding machines
and complete toolbox
• Provision of Trader support Initiative for 40 Ojoo market men and women
• Conditional cash transfer of N50,000 each to 500 people across Oyo Central Senatorial
District
• Distribution of Eco-Friendly clean cooking stove manufactured with local technology to
3400 beneficiaries across Oyo Central Senatorial District
• Sponsor of four women for three days training program organized by United Nations
Women (UN Women) in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Abuja on:
Eradicating, Preventing and Responding to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)

• Employment for 6 individuals at Transmission Company of Nigeria
• Employment for 1 individual at Police Service Commission
• Employment for 25 individuals at Nigeria Police Force
• Employment for 2 individuals at National Biosafety Management Agency
• Employment for 3 individuals at National Park Services.
• Employment for individuals at the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Now
Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS).

ACADEMIC CONTRIBUTIONS
• Delivered the 17th Annual Lecture of LAUTECH Alumni Association titled “Power Generation and Utilization as Alternative Funding to the Nigerian University Education System: Pivotal Tools for Universities Financial Autonomy and
Advancement of Nigeria Youth” in November 2023.

• Awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Special Meritorious Service Award on Environmental
Management on the 9th February, 2024 by the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State
• Guest Lecturer at the Second Edition of Prof. Nyaudoh U. Ndaeyo Public Lecture Series
titled: Addressing Energy Poverty in Nigeria: Insight and Implications for Rural Areas at the University of Uyo on the 8th October, 2024 and received the University Award of Honour.
- Best Senator of the Year 2025 Award by Nigerian Union of Journalists Oyo Council in October 2025.

Senator Yunus Akintunde holds a PhD in Energy Studies and was the Chairman Senate House Committee on Environment while presently he is the Senate House Committee on South West Development Commission among his membership of several key Committees in the Senate Red Chambers of Nigeria National Assembly.
