On Saturday, October 4, 2025, the leadership of the Akinyele Local Government Trade Men and Women Artisans, comprising professionals from various trades such as carpentry, tailoring, hairdressing, mechanics, panel beating, phone repairs, painting, bricklaying, welding, fish selling, and others, paid a courtesy visit to the Distinguished Senator Yunus Akintunde, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, at his residence.

The delegation, led by its Chairman, Mr. Adeyemo Rasheed, was warmly received by the Senator.

In his opening remarks, the Public Relations Officer of the association, Mr. Wasiu Adekunle, commended Senator Akintunde for his numerous developmental projects across Akinyele Local Government. He noted that only “enemies of progress” would deny the Senator’s visible achievements, citing the installation of solar-powered streetlights, provision of boreholes, and several empowerment programs that have positively impacted the lives of residents.

Speaking further, Mr. Adeyemo Rasheed, Chairman of the Akinyele Trade Men and Women Artisans, expressed deep appreciation to Senator Akintunde for his quality representation and philanthropic gestures. He recalled his long acquaintance with the Senator dating back to his tenure as Commissioner for Works under the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, describing him as “a man of his word who never fails to deliver on promises.” He also appealed for continued support from the Senator to enable members of the association benefit further from the dividends of democracy.

In his response, Senator Yunus Akintunde expressed gratitude for the visit and appreciation for the recognition of his efforts. He used the occasion to highlight his two-year scorecard, listing various infrastructural projects and empowerment initiatives already executed in Akinyele Local Government and across the Oyo Central Senatorial District.

Reiterating his campaign slogan, “Let’s Do More,” Senator Akintunde assured the artisans of his continued commitment to development and empowerment. He encouraged them to form a committee similar to the Ojoo Traders Association, which recently benefited from a ₦2 million business support fund he provided. He explained that a similar fund would be extended to Akinyele artisans, to be rotated among members to strengthen their businesses.

Atiku); former Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adigun Murphy; the APC Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Engr.
