Lent: Akintunde Felicitates Christians on Lenten Season, Describes 2026 Lent and Ramadan Convergence as Divinely Orchestrated
The Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Yunus Akintunde, has extended warm felicitations to Christian faithful on the commencement of the 2026 Lenten season.
Senator Akintunde described the rare coincidence of this year’s Lenten fasting beginning on the same day as the Ramadan fast observed by Muslims as a divinely orchestrated alignment with profound spiritual significance.
In his goodwill message to Christians released through Kunle Olatunji his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity on the occasion of Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the forty-day period of fasting and prayers, the lawmaker noted that the simultaneous observance of Lent and Ramadan presents a unique and historic opportunity for Nigeria and the global community to collectively seek God’s divine intervention in the affairs of humanity.
He stated that as the nation advances toward accelerated development and a new dawn of shared prosperity under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration, both Christians and Muslims must remain fervent in prayers and thanksgiving, trusting God to guide the country to greater heights and to grant exceptional good governance in the ongoing journey of national repositioning.
Senator Akintunde urged Christian faithful to reflect the true essence of the Lenten season by exemplifying humility, faith, sacrificial love, and total obedience to God, while extending benevolence to those in need.
He prayed that Almighty God would accept the prayers and supplications of the faithful and grant the nation renewed strength, unity, and deeper commitment to the collective task of nation-building.
