In a significant development ahead of the upcoming political dispensation, the political tension of Ona-Ara Local Government in Oyo State received a major shakeup as members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Southwest structure formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The high-profile defection event took place at the renowned Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, drawing a multitude of party faithful, community leaders, and enthusiastic supporters.
Receiving the defectors, the APC State Assembly candidate for Ona-Ara Constituency, Engr. Funmi Obisesan, expressed profound appreciation to the former NNPP members for choosing to align with the progressive fold. Engr. Obisesan assured the new entrants of absolute integration, promising that they would enjoy equal opportunities and treatment within the APC. Obisesan, while addressing the Mato community representatives, assuring residents that government intervention and infrastructural attention will reach them upon the inauguration of the new administration.
