A renowned electrical engineer and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ona-Ara Local Government, Honourable Ifeoluwa Oyedeji, has declared that the electorate in Ona-Ara are fully mobilized and ready to deliver a resounding electoral defeat to Governor Seyi Makinde and the ruling party in the 2027 general elections through an unprecedented volume of votes.
Speaking during a strategic engagement with new members joining the party from Labour party in the local government, Hon. Oyedeji expressed deep dissatisfaction over what he described as years of governance failure, neglected infrastructure, and the systematic neglect of community administration under the present administration in Oyo State. According to him, the residents of Ona-Ara have suffered prolonged hardship due to abandoned critical projects, among which is the long-overdue Ariyo-Amuloko to Origbo road construction. He noted that the collapse of this vital corridor has grounded economic activities, worsened daily commuting for residents, and demonstrated a total disregard for the socio-economic welfare of the community.
Hon. Oyedeji further criticized the administration for paralyzing the local government system, arguing that the grassroots tier of governance in Ona-Ara has been rendered completely ineffective.
"Community development has come to a standstill because local authorities have been stripped of the capacity to serve the people," he said.
Addressing the economic burdens faced by traders, the APC chieftain highlighted the exorbitant pricing of newly constructed shops and the systemic extortion of market women at Olorunda Ogunsola and Oritaperin markets by the present administration. He added that public infrastructure in the area continues to deteriorate rapidly, citing the poor maintenance of primary and secondary public schools alongside under-equipped healthcare facilities across Ona-Ara Local Government.
Assuring the people of Oyo State and Ona-Ara of a new dawn, Hon. Oyedeji declared that a government centered on true public service would be restored under the leadership of Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli when he takes over the mantle of leadership in Oyo State. He emphasized that an APC-led administration will return power, resources, and governance back to the people at the grassroots level.
"Our people and party faithful across Ona-Ara should remain steadfast, obtain your voters' cards, and deliver a total block vote for all APC candidates in the upcoming elections — from President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu down to Honourable Funmi Obisesan, the APC candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly" the statement concluded.
